WHAT? 

The Dreamland Cinema is embarking on a new endeavor to bring more of the best of indie, international, arthouse, and cult film to Sacramento by launching the CINEMA DREAMLAND zine!

 

CINEMA DREAMLAND will include both long and short form film criticism, illustrations, curated lists, capsule reviews, puzzles and games, and other fun content for cinephiles and film freaks from across the land.

....But unlike most things at The Dreamland, we can't do it by ourselves! We want YOU to contribute! We are accepting pitches for articles, etc. that you'd like to contribute to the zine. Remember, it can be anything from a top 10 list to an idea for an illustrated sticker sheet or an in-depth examination of a certain film to a selection of short reviews built around a specific topic/director/sub-genre, etc. We are open to your ideas!

The theme of the first issue is MIDNIGHT AT THE ARTHOUSE.

Your pitch should be related to an arthouse horror film for inclusion. Examples of arthouse horror films are titles such as: 

• ERASERHEAD

• HAUSU

• POSSESSION

• EYES WITHOUT A FACE 

• ONIBABA

• ANTICHRIST

• CARNIVAL OF SOULS

• THE WITCH

• MIDSOMMAR

and many more!

REQUIREMENTS & DETAILS:

• Deadline for pitches is 7/1/24

• Pitch should be related to an arthouse horror title, subgenre, filmmaker, etc. 

• Please include the type of project you are interested in submitting (illustration, list, article, crossword puzzle, etc.)

• If pitching an article, please include estimated word count.

• A small stipend will be provided for selected contributions.

• Deadline for accepted project is 9/15/24
